Use warm water – With each new set of trays you may experience discomfort at first. You can reduce discomfort by rinsing your new trays in warm water prior to putting them in.

Don’t go without your trays to often – For best results you should be keeping your Invisalign® in your mouth as long as possible, preferably for at least 22 hours a day. Make sure to keep your trays in at all times unless you are eating.

Keep them clean – Good hygiene is critical, especially when it comes to your Invisalign® trays. You don’t want to risk infection by sealing food or bacteria between your teeth and trays. To properly clean your trays use a soft-bristle toothbrush to scrub them, then allow them to soak for 5 minutes in a solution that is 1:1 water and hydrogen peroxide for disinfecting.

Avoid foods and beverages high in sugar – We are all aware of the consequences sugar has on the teeth; but in addition, foods and beverages high in sugar content may leave a sticky residue trapped under your trays.

Brush and floss prior to inserting trays – Any time you take your trays out to eat, brush and floss your teeth prior to putting them back in. This will help protect your teeth from bacteria that can build up from food particles stuck in your teeth.
